At the most recent Upper Adriatic yacht exhibition held in Jesolo, an impressive crowd of people stood in line to admire the new 74-footer craft from Leonard. The Leonard 74 is a modern watercraft of twenty-four meters total length by more than five and a half meters at full beam, with three decks available for the owner and guests. It’s a sophisticated yacht in terms of furnishings and layout, and is at the cutting edge of hull and system design. In the bright morning light of early spring, the yacht looked perfect set within the picturesque frame of the new harbor, an elegant metallic dove gray complemented by exterior decks and stern platform in exquisite teak. The main deck and fly bridge, then, offer a gorgeous white cream color that sharpens the yacht’s profile and enhances the vast side windows, which create a bright spaciousness in the interiors of the craft. We visited the fly bridge first, from which we could evaluate the craft’s dimensions, which are truly impressive. On the fly bridge, one can enjoy recreation and conversation in an elegant and exclusive atmosphere amid the teak, open sky and endless ocean. The main deck features two large sun decks at stern and bow, a horseshoe bench with central table and exterior command bridge, a perfect replica of the interior navigation post. The command post offers a perfectly comfortable atmosphere both at anchor and during travel, and can be fully opened to the sun by cranking down the large bimini top. A wide and safe stairway separates it from the main deck: here a spacious ambiance awaits, well lit with many custom options available. Leonard firmly believes that “customization” shouldn’t just be a choice between several prepackaged options, but should offer an owner the chance to design the yacht’s interiors side by side with the manufacturer, to design the profile, dimensions and layout, to choose the furniture, fabrics and color scheme, to decide which brand-new electronic systems to install...to build a boat exactly according to his or her needs and tastes. To carry out their commitment to this philosophy, Leonard yachts are customizable down to the furniture itself: a pre-selected assortment is not used for the interiors, as is common with standard yacht models; rather, the interiors and the superstructure are considered a single entity, made flexible in order to exist just as the owner desires, and the interior spaces are filled with furniture made to order. The lounge visible in the images is then just one of many possibilities: the owner here has selected a classic design with modern materials and design options. A lounge area sits toward the stern, a breakfast nook amidships, another couch with entertainment center and kitchen near the side, in a separate room, as well as a day washroom in the lounge. The command bridge sits toward the bow. The same philosophy of customization applies to the lower deck, where one of many possible layouts awaits: four cabins, two doubles and two with single beds, served by four separate washrooms. The captains quarters is truly a sight to behold, positioned as it is amidships and equipped with every modern luxury, beginning with ample sleeping space, large washroom and double shower with bench. |
