A dance inspired by the force of water and its dynamic flow opened the curtain on Epica 58 during its world premiere at the 2011 Genoa Boat Show. Through this dance choreographed by Marco Auggiero of the Labart Contemporary Dance Company entitled “H2O: Flow in Continuous Transformation” Fiart Mare wanted to draw the public’s attention to the features that best define the sporty character of the latest creation by the Neapolitan shipyard: the sleek profile with imposing foredeck and aggressive windshield integrated in the carbon fibre top and lamellar window panes. Epica 58 is the birth of a new era for the brand founded in 1960 by the engineer, Ruggiero Di Luggo with the production of one of the first fibreglass boats in Europe. For this purpose, the sculptor and “cult artist” Lello Esposito dedicated to the new flagship the symbol of regeneration excellence: an imposing 3-metre tall red sculpture depicting the head of San Gennaro resting on an egg base. In a nutshell, a debut in grand style - after the premiere at Milan Fashion Design - at the height of the performance and recognition of the boat, the result of real stylistic and design innovation and ever-evolving technological research. Let’s go into more detail. EXTERIORS The spaces and solutions indulge the pleasure of yachting and living on board. Fiart’s usual optimisation creates an excellent environment for driving and entertaining, with unprecedented spaces. The owner can choose to divide the main deck into two areas separated by sliding glass doors: the deck (saloon) includes the driver’s seat with individual adjustable chairs, a sofa and kitchen equipped with sink, grill and refrigerator. The outside area (cockpit) revolves around a large U-shaped couch, which can be converted into a sundeck or table. From here, it is possible to reach the crew cabin with en-suite bathroom and shower. INTERIORS Someone called it a gem of design. In fact, it was no accident that Epica 58 received a nomination in the Interior Design Awards at Genoa. Elegance and luxury in a simple getup, cosiness and craftsmanship, leather floors and LED lights decorate the below deck area consisting of a living area and three large cabins with en-suite bathroom with shower because privacy is also important. The head of the bed in the bow master cabin faces the centre of the boat (forward), making it accessible from both sides and guaranteeing maximum comfort and stability. At the extreme bow is a bathroom with bidet and stimulating chromotherapy-equipped shower. The living room is a real oasis of relaxation, thanks to the comfortable Frau designer couch with chaise lounge positioned in front of a Bang&Olufsen big screen TV with Bose sound. The kitchen located directly opposite is equipped with Gaggenau household appliances and comes with a spacious peninsular unit. ENGINES Fiart Mare has equipped Epica 58 with Ax Marine, an inertial system for marine stabilisation designed by the Axitude Company of the GMA-Generale Meccatronica Applicata Group that, in addition to guaranteeing unrivalled comfort and safety, reduces fuel consumption. The stabilised trim of the boat is obtained with the automatic control of aft stabilisers, according to data coming from the MEMS sensors of the device. The two Volvo Penta IPS-900 engines each with 700 hp and accurately studied hull ensure high performances and reliability, as well as great manoeuvrability thanks to the standard joystick. The craft ensures speeds in excess of 35 knots with consumption reduced to 180 litres/hour for both engines at cruising speed.
