At the Marine Test Centre of San Giorgio di Nogaro, in the province of Udine, owned by the historical shipyard Cranchi® based at Piantedo, was written a page of the Italian nautical history: for many years Cranchi® had not invited the Italian press to test a boat of theirs, but this Sixty 4HT could not give up to be launched in a big way.
When we talk of Cranchi® we mean to speak about a synonymous with mania, great accuracy and, mainly, product engineering, to the advantage of quality and final price. The Sixty 4HT is an original boat both for her full optional setting – in fact, the standard version is equipped with many accessories ranging from a night snooperscoper (for sea safety) to electric side door, from curtains to protect from humidity to tools and spares kits, from propeller water tight to a steel grill - and for the cutting-edge technology on board.
Completely domotic, any part of the boat, for instance, lights, tanks, air conditioning, and so on, can be controlled from the platform through a touch screen monitor. Similarly, the boat can be driven through a joystick: this system has been realized for Cranchi® by Naviop, a renowned leading company in automation and domotic field and during the test it showed to be comfortable and effective. The test, carried out with 2 Man engines powered with 1360 hp each, was carried out with very calm sea while the weather was cold and wet. All in all the boat has well navigated both when veering and under stress. The hull has been designed to ensure a good top speed, bringing the boat much outside of the water, at the same time the line abaft has been designed to ensure more comfort when cruising: a very good compromise not always easy to realize, since not always speed and comfort match. Let’s talk now of the planning stage of Sixty 4 HT. Before starting with production, Cranchi has developed a prototype (afterwards eliminated), with which they made water tests for three months and from which they built the final unit for a total of 238 navigating hours. This prototype has been built and tested. At the end of the tests the shipyard controlled the structure and the components, therefore disassembled, taking away the engines given back to the builder, and then destroyed. The whole boat is built with great accuracy: each worker exactly knows what to do and follows the instructions from specific handbooks. This turns to the advantage of accurate building and reliability of the final product but mainly allows to optimize the costs. Each detail of Sixty 4 HT, such as safety doors abaft with a pipe holder to wash the boat, steel pulpit, and so on… is done just for Cranchi in order to safeguard the originality of the product. A double control station abaft, tools for the entertainment in each cabin, cockpit or sundeck: the boat provides everything on board, like in bigger units. Another hallmark is the sinkable bridge. But among the many positive characteristics we have to point out one in particular: the outstanding noiseless when navigating; a hull of 35 knots created to enjoy the sea with the utmost comfort with style and safety, at any speed, with a consumption at 26 knots of 150 l/h per engine…not badly for a boat of 21 m and 35 tons. Inside there are 4 cabins, including the crew/guest one abaft for a total of 8 bed accommodations and 4 head units. The material used for the living area is the bleached durmast while in the sleeping area the cabin floors are covered with a pure wool carpet, with an underlying wood finishes, and mat lacquered doors with walnut doors, well finished and showing a contemporary design. The two main cabins are destined to the owner and VIPs, respectively in the center of the boat and at bow; the guest cabin provides a double berth and a head unit, acting also as a day toilette for the guests in the cockpit, with double entrance. The aft cabin is fitted with a head unit that can be considered much more than a simple crew cabin. The mat lacquered galley, placed to starboard, is naturally lighted by the windshield and is fitted with a Corian®,worktop, double steel sink, electric oven, freezer, dish wash machine and a powerful suction hood, all made by Miele.
The boat provides many compartments to give room as much as possible to put away everything is necessary for cruising: furthermore, she is equipped with all the customized accessories signed by Cranchi®. The square is equipped with a sofa and in front of it there is a foldaway TV set, a Bose plant and, furthermore it has a wine cellar, ice maker… If you open the back door, the hood and the side windows you have a real terrace on the sea. Exteriors are practical, their line is particular and aggressive, the profile of the side windows (only for aesthetic use), against broadside, well matches the deck line and the result is really charming. The aft and the bow sundeck are well dimensioned and both are fitted with an awning, the one abaft is electrically operated while the other at bow is manually operated. There are compartments for ropes and fenders as well as a well-positioned step on the handrail to check the anchor haulage and rope manoeuvring. In short, Sixty 4 HT is a really remarkable boat, built by a shipyard that in different ages produced 700 boats, sold at a competitive price.
